Reflection on 2006 - Looking forward to 2007!
Dear all,
As we are nearing the end of another year, the George Price Centre for Peace and Development prepares to close for a break from December 20, 2006 to January 2, 2007. But before we do, there's a few things I would like to say and share...
Click here for a brief progress report on the Centre's activities in 2006, to which we welcomed a total of almost 18,000 visitors! The report lists the objectives which the Executive Board set forth in its Strategic Plan 2004-2007 and assesses the progress made in achieving these objectives. As always, I am inviting your thoughts, input and suggestions: only together, we can achieve our vision of promoting the peaceful development of our Nation.
Once again, I am inviting and encouraging everyone to become a "Friend of the Centre" This programme was established to support the activities of the Centre. Help us to continue developing the Centre into a true venue of inspiration for the peaceful development of Belize. As a Friend of the Centre you will enjoy free admission to the Centre's movie nights and discounts to other selected events and trainings. In addition, you will receive exclusive invitations to special evenings such as the openings of art exhibits, concerts, workshops, meetings, etc.
I have a number of thank-yous to write. To the outgoing Chairman of the Centre's Executive Board, Mr. Anthony Chanona, who served our Board with a great vision and leadership for the past three years. Thank you too for the support and confidence from the Board Members; Mr. Anthony Sylvestre, Ms. Leni-Jo Usher, Mr. Mick Craig, Mr. Charles Gibson and Mr. Bryan Mena.
Thank you to our caretaker, Mr. Ignacio Avila and cleaner, Mr. Horace Robateau who have been diligently assisting in the upkeep and smooth operations of the Centre.
And finally, thank you all for your continued support, your visits and words of encouragement!
We have a lot in store for the upcoming year, starting with an Open House and special exhibiton the occasion of Mr. Price's 88th birthday and a not-to-be-missed presentation by world renowned professor Dr. Carolina Luz de la Torre Molina on the topic of "Identity" on January 17, 2007. Until then...
Wishing you and you family a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. (Luke 2:14)
