On Wednesday, May 27, the District Education Center is hosting the inauguration of the Regional Education Council at the George Price Centre for Peace and Development.

During that event, the Garden City Upper Special Ed classroom will be doing the 'Our Father' in sign language. This special item was organized upon the invitation of Mrs. Diego, Director of the DEC, by the National Resource Center for Inclusive Education (NARCIE), in light of Disabilities Awareness Week.

Throughout this week, NARCIE is organizing a series of events, aimed at highlighting the needs of persons with disabilities and to promote public awareness about the challenges people with disabilities face, with specific emphasis on their educational needs. The programme includes a school parade, workshops, the Finger Spelling Bee, fundraisers and a display at the George Price Centre for Peace and Development. In addition, ribbons in support of NARCIE's activities will be sold at most schools.
