Workshop: Conflict Resolution
Thursday and Friday, August 6 and 7 - 8.30 to 4.00

The George Price Centre for Peace and Development is inviting parents, teachers, youth leaders, community workers, ... anyone who is interested in bringing about a positive change in the lives of our children, to attend the workshop "Teaching Conflict Resolution to Children".

The workshop will be conducted by Dr. Jennifer Morrow who has a wealth of experience in the field of Conflict Resolution. Topics of the workshop will include:

Introduction to conflicts
Resolution activities
Communication
Stress and Hot buttons
De-escalation / activities to calm down
Positive identity
Mediation, Solving Conflicts
Peer mediation

Participants will receive a manual which will also include activity sheets to help children to understand how conflicts can and should be resolved in a peaceful manner.

This workshop is part of the Conflict Resolution Programme spearheaded by the George Price Centre for Peace and Development and sponsored by the Belize Natural Energies Charitable Trust. The Programme envisions offering Conflict Resolution sessions to children between the ages of 7 and 16, initially in the Belmopan area.

  • September 17: (Tentative date) Forum - Fostering Respect for Opposing Views.
  • September 29: Presentation by Bashir Sakhawarz - Afghanistan: Using education as a tool to bring peace and security.
  • November 13: "What were you wearing when the ship went down" - Belmopan International Women's Group annual dinner/dance.
