The organizers of this year's concerts by Belizean master pianist Franky Reneau have made a last-minute decision to cancel the Belmopan performance. The highly anticipated event was to take place at the George Price Centre for Peace and Development this coming Saturday, September 13.

Francis Reneau's concert had been scheduled months ago and was to be the highlight of the Centre's September programme. Mr. Reneau himself is said to be displeased about the cancellation and shares in our disappointment.

The Centre has always fostered a clear vision to integrate the expression of the arts as an important tool for the growth and peaceful advancement of Belize. Especially during this month, when we are celebrating our independence and indeed our very Belizean identity, Mr. Reneau's presence, and that of his students, would have made a significant contribution to this process.

On behalf of the organizers, we apologize to our audience for this late cancellation. We wish Mr. Reneau all the best for his show in Belize City and thank him for his continued efforts to work with our young Belizean pianists during the summer.

May you all enjoy happy Independence celebrations!
