This morning, Youth for the Future and the Embassy of Venezuela to Belize collaborative kicked off Youth Week activities at the George Price Centre for Peace and Development. Youth Week is being celebrated under the theme: "Youth: strong and free, the foundation of our Nation; empowered through full participation".

Students listened to the strong messages delivered by Ms. Dianne Finnegan, Director of Youth for the Future; Mr. Gabriel Sanchez, First Secretary of the Venezuelan Embassy and the Honourable Marcel Cardona, Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture.

The programme today and tomorrow will include presentations and inter-active discussions on topics such as "AIDS: attitudes and prevention", "Dating Relationships and Responsible Sex", "ALBA - an integration scheme for Latin America and the Caribbean based on the principles of cooperation, solidarity and sovereignty", "The Durban Action Plan" and "None but ourselves - taking responsibility for social transformation"
