Many of you may remember the Summer Reading Programme, initiated in 2007 by several spouses of staff members of the U.S. Embassy in collaboration with the George Price Centre. The programme continued throughout the schoolyear with the assistance of student volunteers of the Belize Christian Academy. We are now planning the second edition of the Summer Reading Programme.

For this we are in search of reading mentors who will lead a group of children with reading and related activities. There will be two 2-week sessions; each session will be daily Monday through Friday from 9am to 12pm (3 hours). Volunteer Reading Mentors could choose to participate in both sessions, or in only one of them, be it for an entire week or selected days only.

Session 1: July 7 to July 18 (for student who completed Infant I in June 2008)

Session 2: July 28 to August 8 (for students who completed Infant II in June 2008)

Lesson plans, training and materials will be provided by the programme.
