It might have been quite some time since you heard from us at the George Price Centre, but it is certainly not because of a lack of activities. While I was out to attend a workshop in Taiwan, Amy Zamora and Ignacio Avila were on board to guide the start of the Summer Programmes.
With an abundance of volunteers, the Reading Programme for Infant I students kicked off to a good start. The children spent two weeks working on improving their reading skills and left with boosted confidence to tackle the new school year. Yesterday, a group of Infant II students took over the Centre's auditorium. Under the able guidance of yet more volunteers, they are rotating visits to the reading, listening, phonics and activities stations, having lots and lots of fun!
And while reading is going on upstairs, the IT training centre is full of young minds eager to learn more about computers, its ins and outs! The computer classes are hosted by a team of volunteers from the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology of Taiwan under the able leadership of Dr. Chuen-min Huang (Jenny). During their visit to Belize, the team is also assisting other organizations that are in need of professional IT advise. We are so grateful for them to be here and to share their tremendous knowledge with us!
While the summer is flying by, the Centre is preparing some great events and activities for you to attend in the coming months. We will keep you updated!
