Trust you all had a great start of the New Year!

We here at the George Price Centre for Peace and Development might have been quiet thus far, but that is because we are preparing for great things to happen in 2008!

We have resumed our Spanish classes and as of next week our doors are open again for the Reading Programme, which is now being facilitated by Senior Students of the Belize Christian Academy.

Also, the Belize National Youth Chess Foundation will be welcoming old and new primary school students (ages 9 to 12) to their weekly Chess Club. The new sessions will start on Tuesday, January 15th between 4.00 and 5.00 p.m. If you are interested in knowing more about the Chess Club you can contact Ms. Ella Anderson at belizechess@cavesbranch.com.

Finally "Voicing the Opinion on Issues Concerning the Elderly", VOICE Belmopan is calling all persons of age to join their second public meeting on Wednesday, January 30 at 4.00 p.m. During the meeting, a committee will inform all of the progress which VOICE Belmopan has made thus far. In addition, a draft "Older Persons Act" will be discussed and input will be sought from all. Older persons are encouraged to attend this meeting and to take this opportunity to learn more about VOICE and what it strives to achieve. If you do not consider yourself an older person yet, let your parents know about this opportunity!

The programme for February is slowly filling up. Look out for great movies and documentaries; Belmopan Cancer Society's Valentine's Dance and a Story Reading Evening!
